Imani family streches beyond its boundaries andgives a hand to the community in fighting jiggers. Tunga penetrans is known as the chigger, jigger, chigoe, bicho do pé or sand flea. The head is angular, it has no comb of spines, and the thoracic segments are narrow at the top.The female feeds by burrowing into the skin of its host. The abdomen becomes enormously enlarged between the second and third segments so that the flea forms a round sac with the shape and size of a pea. The impregnated female Tunga embeds itself in the skin under the toenails and fingernails of man - where the resultant sores may fill with pus and become infected. Others victims can be dogs, cats, rats, pigs, cattle and sheep.
IMANI CHILDREN GIVING AND LOVE OUTREACH PROGRAM Imani children come together as a family and come up with a project of giving back to the community. The rationale was that they received acceptance, unconditional positive regard and love from the community consequently from their values, attitudes and Christian beliefs it was a mutual feeling to give back to the community. The resources for this act of faith comes from the children’s Sunday fasting. Jacob and faith kicked of the project of giving and loving on 23rd May by visiting Langata women prisons. They gave the mothers in jail a word of encouragement and love. They also offered the tissues, Colgate, jelly and accessories. The inmates were abounded by friend and relatives and felt rejected. Imani children gave them hope. The projects kicked off with mothers in maternity on 30th May 2010. There are many mothers who give birth in hospitals and are forgotten. The bills pill up and they are held hostage in hospitals. Mothers in such conditions sometimes result in abandoning the children. Imani children thought visiting and loving this mums would give them courage to take care of their Angels despite the hardships. Uncle Tony, Melissa and Wanja embarked on the mission of love and giving to one of the leading National hospitals with blessings of Mum and family. Melissa navigated our way to the maternity ward and to our astonishment there was a ward designated to the forgotten new mums’ reasons failure to pay the bill. They were hostage and no one had visited them for weeks and some months. The nurses were quick to point out those in need of our mission. A particular mother had no words as we presented some food stuff, Vaseline, and Colgate. The mission team’s words and hugs incited tears of joy from receiving unconditional love. We got the attention of the whole ward with songs of praise and prayer. Imani had accomplished a mission of bringing back hope and touching those in need with the word and love of God. On the 13th June 2010 Imani sent out a mission to the Kamiti Maximum Prison. Uncle Tony, Franklin, Mwangi and baba went out armed with unconditional love, acceptance, positive regard, foodstuff and other accessories for the inmates who have been rejected and forgotten by family and friends. The eager of Imani love soldiers was surprised by the number of young teens jailed with no visitors at all. Thanks to the Imani family they received love, concern and prayers. The youth shared experiences on various issues concerning behavior and crime.
