IMANI A

IMANI A

This is the mother center and was established in 1992. It covers an area of 1/3 hectare of land and situated in Soweto slums of Kayole Nairobi; Kenya. This branch has a capacity of 150 children of both sexes. This is also where the older children, from twelve years of age upward are housed, as they need closer observation which can be realized easier in Imani “A”.

IMANI B

This is located about three kilometers from Imani “A”. It was established in 1996. This was as a response to the increased number of street children at the time. It is also located in a village set up known as Matopeni. The center has a capacity of more than 100 children of both sexes and of ages 3 to 12 years. A small animal farm is found in Imani ‘B’. This provides at least part of the daily requirement for dairy products, but also allows the children to get acquainted with animal rearing, as part of the rehabilitation activities.

IMANI BABIES UNIT

IMANI BABIES UNIT

The babies unit started in 1999 to address the abandoned baby problem. Imani babies unit shares the same ground with Imani ‘A’. It takes care of babies of 1 day to 2 years. Imani goal is to care for these abandoned or orphaned babies from a day old by providing them with primary health care for a period of time before releasing them for adoption or foster care. However not every child is adopted especially the babies who test HIV positive and those who have disabilities.

IMANI MALINDI RESCUE / HOLIDAY PROJECT

This is a rescue center for orphans and vulnerable children it is at the coastal side of Kenya.

The project is also not a permanent home for the children, but a rescue centre for a period of time after which the children rescued are re- integrated into the community and only in the best interest of an individual child. Malindi project is also a holiday place for the children in Imani Nairobi projects. In Malindi we also rescue girls who are forced into early marriages and commercial sex.

IMANI NGONG

IMANI NGONG

We call it special unit; it is located at Ngong in Ololua where we have abused children and the children of the jail birds who are waiting to complete their jail term. If the parents are fully rehabilitated we reunite them with their children or we look for the guardian who will take good care of the child.
